  • AE not rendering final comp.

Posted by Charles Murphy on February 4, 2008 at 5:38 pm

Using AE 6.5, I try to render a final composition. It doesnt render any video, i end up getting a file which is about 2 seconds long, and nothing but black screen. The video I’m rendering is only about 20 seconds long. When I try a RAM preview, it says there are no frames to preview, and the render log says this:

Im not sure if im seeing the problem, but its the only thing i can think of in your case.

-Your work area is to short

it looks like your work area is set to a to short area:
    Time Span: Work Area
    Start: 0:00:00:00
    End: 0:00:00:00

After Effects renders only the work area.
And also after effects need more than 2 frames to render; in your case there are less than 2 frames.

To solve the Problem extend your work area by click&drag the end and start of the work area to your end and start for your comp. You can also go to the first frame and hit “B” and then go to the last frame and hit “N”. Then you should be able to see the full video after rendering.
