1080i60 as slow mo into 1080p24
My second workflow question of the day, but totally unrelated to the first. I do love the Cow…and I did RTF, I just may not get workflow well yet.
I have a large (for me) project that I just shot and must now post. It’s a sports/instructional DVD but the goal was to get an NFL Films kind of look. I shot in HDV 24F, except for stuff I knew we’d want to slow mo which I shot 1080i60 in order to slow it down to 40%. I’m planning on editing in Apple ProRes 422 or ProRes 422 LT. What is the best workflow for converting the 1080i60 stuff to 1080p24 slow mo?
Shane has done a tutorial on doing this with DVCPro but I haven’t found anything about HDV. Should I capture it in a separate 60i project (it’s on separate tapes), slow it down there and then bring it into my 24P project? Or am I just not getting this? My understanding is that if I just drop it into the 24p timeline it stays interlaced, no? I’m using FCP7. delivery will be on standard DVD. Thanks.
