Media Manager Question
Hi All,
I understand that MM can create new clips from my subclipped material, and I need to create new clips to match these, not so much to save space, but because we want to have all the subclips have their own media files so when we go through and delete stuff we don’t want/aren’t using, all the subclips we keep will still have the media.
So my question is, how exactly do i use media manager to do that? I’ve done a few experiments, and none of them seem to do anything but the same thing. Basically I create a new project (this is a test, so I’m trying to not lose anything accidently) and drag over the sub clips to this new project. I select the clips, and using the media manager window I select copy the media, delete unused media, and rename after clip name. What i get as a result, is a new project with four subclips (same names copied over) and they match still to one media file, that is exactly the same as the original media file i started with, only renamed after the first sub clip.
I’m totally confused. Even when I try this with one subclip at a time (thinking that somehow doing all four clips at once is confusing how to process the media) I still end up with only one clip that is exactly the same length as the full original clip, renamed for the subclip of course.
I have a gut feeling that MM is perfect for this task, but I just cant figure it out. Any ideas? In the mean time I’ve been copy/pasting in quicktime and saving new files, but this is totally inefficient and its forcing me to lose my markers and labeling systems that have already been applied to the subclips.
thanks in advance
