Multi Format Conversions
Hi everyone, I’ve posted this question several times, gotten some great answers, but now I think I finally know exactly what I want to ask so hopefully the answers will give me a better idea of what to do. That being said:
I’m working on a multi format doc. We have everything from full HD motion graphics to downloaded clips from youtube, so the span of frame rates, sizes, and aspect ratio’s is about as diverse as you can get.
Our desired output is Apple Pro Res 422 HQ, 1080p, 23.98 fps.
What is the recommended amount of standardization in regards to frame rate, compression, etc? My impression so far is that while changing the sizes of the footage is not really necessary, eventually the frame rates will have to change to one thing. So is there a benefit to changing the frame rate before bringing clips into final cut? If so, what are the recommended paths for doing this, Compressor? I’ve heard some things about Media Manager and Cinema Tools, do these programs create simplified workflows for helping change frame rates and change only what we need to save time?
I’m realizing that we’ve gotten a few more things done than maybe should have been started, so I’m kinda just trying to look at this from square one, so anyone reading, maybe just try to imagine sitting down with a stack of footage on your desk from all shapes and sizes, and recommend how you’d address these issues from there. Although since pretty much everything is in final cut at this point, how would you maybe back track (if at all) to make sure everything is the right size and speed for editing. Thanks so much for reading, I look forward to any suggestions.
Thanks
Austin
