• Adobe After Effects

  Import files … nothing

  I’ve been using AE for years, and just recently had a problem with AE 5.5 Pro Bundle.

  I hit “Import/File,” and get … no response at all. No error message, and no window for file selection. It’s as if I didn’t hit “Import/file” at all. “Import/Multiple Files” has the same non-response. “Import Recent Footage” works fine.

  I’ve fully shut down and restarted several times. This started happening yesterday, but the problem went away after a restart. Not today.

  Should I reinstall? Anything to watch out for if I do, besides backing up my AE projects?

  I met such trouble for several times.
  The first time,I went cross this trouble by reinstall my AE5.5.
  The second time ,I found if I loged in my Windows with another user name,this trouble dispeared.
  Wish to be little helpful.

  Try deleting the preference file.

  Hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift immediately after starting After Effects until you get a message to confirm deleting the preferences.

  I am in AE 5.5, so I had to use Control, as the article you linked said.
