    Hi all,

I’m just about to capture some footage that i shot at HDV 1080i 25p with a Sony A1 camera. I’m going to be importing and editing with Final Cut, but I might also use some of the footage later on in After Effects. I was wondering if you could recommend me a codec to use when capturing my footage? I tried searching for an answer to this question but i’m quite new to Final Cut so was slightly overwhelmed! Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Rob

You can either capture with the native HDV codec or with ProRes depending on your computer, drives, version, and depending on what you need to do with the media and how you’re delivering it.

    All the best,

    Tom
