I’m combining 16×9 and 4×3 Pal material and creating an NTSC sequence. When I use Compressor, (with FCP settings as NTSC DV (3:2) aspect and square pixels, FCP often resizes things in the scale of the shot. I assume this is to have the 16×9 fit the 4×3 hole with the aspect correct, but it also resizes some of the clips down to 88.89? I know how to remove all the atributes on the timeline, but wonder if there’s a way to only adjust certain clips? (there are lots of sources so not as easy as saying just reel 1)
    thanks

    Hi Brian,
Here there is something wrong. NTSC don’t use Square pixels.

Thanks for that, Brain drain. Although that makes a small difference, there seem to be two ways to solve the problem… one, to remove all atributes, which resets the sizing, or in Modify, using the scale to sequence or conform to sequence. That looks more to be what I want to do, but it seems to only adjust that clip, and I can’t see where to do that for the sequence?

So I’ve got further, where what I seem to need to do is use the Modify – Conform to Sequence command. Still, I can’t seem to find a similar command to work on the whole sequence, just single shots at a time.
    Any thoughts…
    thanks

new update…. I find that when I have the whole sequence selected, that FCP does not want to do the “conform to sequence” when there are different aspect ratios within that sequence. If I try 5 or 10 shots that are from the same source, it works fine. Less time consuming, but there must be a better way to deal with the problem on a mass level, or at least a macro to work it out!
