  General Error (34)

  I have been working on a project for some time now. Recently opened the project and now i cannot capture anything and also cannot open audio/visual settings. the project plays fine and has no corupted renders or media. i have also trashed the prefrences but am still getting the same problems.

  Any ideas?

  I got this from another FCP users.

  This is great tip that was given by Geniusdv Instructor/Owner John Lynn in the GDV Support Forums to a person who was getting a General Error 34 alert while attempting to use Final Cut Pro.

  “34 errors almost always refer to a corrupt directory or drive partition. I reccomend running Disk Warrior made by Alsoft to see if you can correct the problem. You can also try running, disk first aid in your utilities folder. If this doesn’t fix the problem then, “change your scratch disk location to a different drive, and-or a different folder… see if you get the same error. 34 errors are VERY bad and usually indicate there is a bad section on the hard-drive.”

  Aside from “I’m tired of being your computer today, please restart and try again” what the hell does general error 34 mean?
  Anybody ever figure this one out?
  You have been generally editing 34 hours in a row you are starting to make stupid mistakes please get some sleep? I don’t know.

  I know this is an old post but I was getting this error and discovered I had mistakenly had my in point at the end of the sequence – once I removed that no problem.
