How To: Center Cut HD into a SD 4:3 Timeline?
Hi, everyone…
My appoligies if this has been addressed in a previous post – I searched and found nothing on this specific topic.
I have a 30 minute time sensitive football coach’s show that needs to be turned around in about 5 hours. The final deliverable is a DVCPRO50 4:3 tape.
The show will use 4:3 SD highlights from the game mixed with HD (1080 60i AVCINTRA) footage of the host and coach (net 10 minutes of the show).
I need the fastest workflow to address this issue: when I add the HD footage to my 4:3 SD master timeline, the HD footage is always letterboxed. I need center cut. Is there a way to do this easily on a clip by clip basis? Do I set a TL preference to handle HD material a certain way?
FYI, we’re using Black Magic Decklink Studio Pro I/O cards to talk via SDI with our DVCPRO50 decks.
As an aside, I’m coming from the Liquid Chrome world where I am used to being able to right click on a clip or group of clips and tell them to scale to fit, fit x, fit y, etc. This allowed for each clip to use those rules no matter what sequence format they were used in. Pretty cool. Alas, Chrome is a dead NLE, and I LOVE FCP. Thanks for bringing me along!
