Since no one in the “Pro” formum could or would answer my question, maybe what I need it more basics and someone can offer suggestions.
I need some advice on what settings to use while cutting a show in standard def PAL, and converting to create an NTSC output? The material used is archive PAL footage and the show needs to end up in NTSC. I’ve tried some tests, but get “Shift field” errors and think it’s a combination of the PAL timeline and the NTSC conversion. (I’ll be using Automatic Duck to bring it to Avid for output)
    thanks in advance
    Brian

Best thing would be to make a PAL master tape and have it transcoded to NTSC.

2nd best would be to finish your project in PAL, export a quicktime, and have compressor do the conversion to NTSC.

Trying to change your timebase on an FCP timeline is a recipe for heartache.
