Does FCP have a built in way to clear out the audio cache, etc. files it creates for each project or must it be done manually via Finder? If it’s via Finder can someone venture an explanation as to why such a robust product as FCP does not have a built in management window to clean those files out?

You can delete renders with the Render Manager in the Tools menu. Not sure about an audio cache.
