  • Proxy creation for EXDCAM imports?

Hi Guys – been reading across the forums and other place. I hope someone can help here. I’m new to EXDXAM and FCP and wanting fast editing workflow that will enable Motion and 3D graphics.

I have imported footage, no proxies, so using main files. Extremely slow to render and driving me crackers. I have a new high spec Mac Pro. Can work from thumbnails but cannot link back to main files and have extraordinary long code names I cannot change from Importing software.

    1) How do people create proxy files that can link back to high res master files to enable fast editing?

    2) I have Final Cut Server – marketing got me – but can I run it on my main machine (seems it may slow it down ) and is it worth getting a server to use this kit?

    Thanks for any input

For proxies, check out ProxyMill. It might help.

You could also try setting your sequence settings/render control/codec to Pro Res.
