  • Preparing (scale+transcode) video for FCP?

Posted by Brian Murphy on June 11, 2009 at 10:08 am

I have been given some screen capture videos from a windows PC. They are AVI files recorded at 1024×768.

What is the best way to get these files into FCP so that a standard definition DVD can be made from these files?

If this were a static image in photoshop I could deal with the various file formats and resample the image with a nice interpolation method to keep the image clear. I am looking to accomplish an equal task with video.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I’d use compressor to make SD ProRes files (4:3). Depending on what codecs you have installed on your Mac, you might have issues working with AVI. In that case, try MPEG Streamclip. https://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html Open the AVI and Export to QT using ProRes.
