For the first time I am editing a show with both P2 (720 30P) and AVCCam (720 30P) files. I am bringing everything into FCP6 using a BlackMagic Design Deck Link Studio Card.

Question 1 is what capture preset setting should I be using? The P2 video is 960×720 and shows a pixel aspect of HD (960×720). The AVCCam is 1280×720 and shows as a square pixel aspect ratio.

Question 2 – On my tests I notice that after I bring a clip into the time line and render it I see different color lines at the bottom of the video time line clip. What is this?

    Thanks for your help

Using your capture card you could capture both as ProRes (use a ProRes Easy Setup). That should eliminate the colored lines in the timeline that indicate a need to render. Depending on your RT settings you might be able to edit in real time and only render at the end. If you do that make sure you select the Best setting in the Sequence Settings>Render Conreol tab.
