  • Export to fit to DVD

Posted by James Bishop on May 15, 2009 at 4:36 pm

I’ve finished my project, which is 25minutes long…

I tried exporting it using Quicktime Movie, DVDNTSC 48Khz, but it ended up being 5.6GB. I need to get it to 4.7GB in order to fit to a DVD.

    please help! thanks

If you want the program to play from the DVD you need to use Compressor to encode a mv2 and an ac3 file of the program and then use DVD Studio Pro to make a DVD using the mv2 and ac3 files.

If on the other hand you want the DV data to be on a DVD to bring it somewhere or archive it, use Toast or a similar app to put it onto two DVDs. Toast will make it so the file can be reassembled later.

    Thanks for the response.

I want to be able to play it from DVD. My Compressor, for some reason, doesn’t work. Is their any other way of exporting it, as a file that might shrink it to 4.7gb?

Other than converting the file to another codec you can’t substantially shrink the file. And DV won’t play directly off a DVD. See if this helps you get Compressor working. https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888?viewlocale=en_US

Another thing you can try is Import the DV movie into DVD Studio Pro. DVDSP will encode it to a mv2. However, the quality won’t be as good as Compressor.

If you need more help with Compressor and/or DVDSP post in the Apple DVD Studio Pro forum.
