  • downloading FX – don’t show up in Mac ANYwhere!?

    Hello All-
    mac G5 tower/6Ggig ram/OS 10.5.6/FCP 6.0.5

I have repeatedly attempted to download FXFactory 2.0.7 (latest) update into my FCP. Comes off the site as a DGM file – launch installer from there – all proper file-loading windows, admin permissions, etc open but-
Once I go to look for the APP in the applications folder – it isn’t there!! A spotlight search ONLY shows the DGM file – nothing else. The app isn’t in the computer.
    What am I doing wrong??

FWIW I have been working on-going with Gabe in Tech at Noise Industries – he has been very helpful but I am beginning to think this goes beyond an FXFac issue. Under his direction, to address this problem I have just done a clean install of entire FCStudio suite, upgraded the OS to 10.5.6/upgraded to FCP 6.0.5

    Baffled!!
    help?
    regards

    Hey there

I have the exact same problem. I actually Paid for a license for FXFactory Pro. I installed it and it worked absolutely fine. But when I tried to export out of FCP it had an error which pointed to FXFactry as being the problem.

So naturally I removed FXFactory and reinstalled it. Now, the plugins show up in the FCP effects tab but the FXFactory.app does not show up in the applications folder. thing is not good enough as I need to get into the FXfactory application to install the CoreMelt Motion Pack which I need to finish a job.

I though that maybe traces of the app on the hard drive would cause this problem after installation and I also worked with the Noise Industry guys to remove all traces of the application on my computer.
This included everything related to noise industries in the following locations:

    /Library/Plug-Ins/FxPlug/FxFactory.fxplug
    /Library/Receipts/boms/

I then Redownloaded the FXFactory DMG file and reinstalled and the same thing happened again.

    I am officially lost.

    Someone, anyone, please, help.

BTW I am using the following:

    FCP 6.05

    Hardware Overview:

    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
    Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
    Memory: 6 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
    SMC Version: 1.25f4
    Serial Number: CK8411DG5J4

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Denton-
here is what Gabe at tech at FXFac did for me:
    1) use the menu item under the FXFac App (assuming you are able to open this??) to UN install FXfac
    OR
failing that, do what I did, do a SPOTLIGHT and find/delete all FX Fac files
    2) Gabe sent me a ZIP file of the 2.0.7 (latest) FXFac, which installed fine – unlike the downloaded version which would (why???) not open and leave an APP in the applications folder.

    (Thank you Gabe!!)

I still have the zip, which I’m happy to email to you if you like – PM me at aull@alaska.net
