March 27, 2009 at 2:13 pmIt’s how you edit. If you can’t do that you can’t edit. I would suggest reading the manual or a good book or maybe even just watching the tutorials on the Apple web site.
All the best,

Very diplomatic Tom…
Why is it that people will spend $5-$10K on software and hardware but won’t read a $30 book?

March 27, 2009 at 2:22 pmYou use those keys to mark the begining or “in point” of the edit, and the ending or “out” point of the edit. Everything between or inside of those two markers on your timeline can then be cut out or otherwise modified.

March 30, 2009 at 5:44 pmFor the same reason why someone will spend $6,000 on a video camera and not know what an F-Stop is. Or why someone will purchase a $50,000 sports car to drag race and want an automatic transmission.
If you don’t know what an “In Point” or “Out Point” you need to take a step back and find a community college w/ intro-to-video-editing 101. If the local community college doesn’t have any courses, look online for a good book or something like Lynda.com w/ online classes.
Final Cut Pro is a pretty intensive program and takes a while to learn. It can do some great stuph, but it will take hundreds of hours to really get into FCP.
If you’re looking for something to make home movies as a hobby, iMovie is the way to go.
