  Jerky panning shots

  I’ve captured from Sony Z7 PAL DVCam to Final Cut Express. When I play the captured files in Quicktime, slow panning shots, particularly those with a lot of detail, appear jerky. When I export as a self-contained Quicktime file and burn a DVD the pans are restored to their original creamy smoothness. But when I try to export as flv or mp4 for web download, the jerkiness remains, regardless of codec or settings. It’s driving me mad – please help!

  My guess is that your footage is interlaced. You should deinterlace your web outputs.

  Thanks Bill. I’ve tried de-interlacing using the video filter and alternatively during Quicktime conversion – still jerky. Andrew
