I had a nested composition with the blending mode set to “silhouette luma”. For some reason it has changed itself to a dash (-) and seems to be stuck in an “add” blending mode. If I try to change it it still has the check mark on “silhouette luma” but doesn’t change appearance. I can’t seem to change it at all.

The layer is not locked. I am using AE 6.5, I’ve been an AE user for 7 years and never encountered this… Help??

It sounds like you enabled the ‘Collapse Transformations/Continuously Rasterize’ switch on the pre-comp. With that switch enabled the layers inside of the pre-comp determine the blending mode.
