Initial Sequence Settings
I know this has probably been answered many times before… but I can’t just find the right answer in threads or the FCP manual. I am mainly editing SD DV tape mixed with JPEGS and Live Type graphics. I have read on this forum many times before..”never put graphics on a DV timeline”. So just wondering how I would do it then?? (BTW, output is QT self contained movie for IDVD / DVD Studio Pro). So firstly, under the sequence / sequence settings/quicktime video settings… should this be left at DV, or for best graphics quality, something like no compression or uncompressed? Does this setting effect material that you INSERT into the timeline, or only when you EXPORT it to a QT movie? I understand that uncompressed DV will not be better than DV, but better for the images / graphics?
Secondly, the LT manual states the preferred method for sending LT text to FCP is either dragging to timeline, or save and insert through FCP without rendering (so you can edit it on the timeline). I want the best possible quality of the LT material, so usually render it in LT 8 bit uncompressed.. then insert it into FCP. Would the preferred LT method of just dragging into the timeline, give the same quality results as rendering it uncompressed first?
