    Hello,

I am new to Final Cut and I am about ready to start my first edit with my new system. The project was shot on the HVX200 at 1080 24p. My system has a Kona 3 card and I will be exporting to the PDW-HD1500 XDCAM deck. This deck records 1080i 50 Mb/s using MPEG HD422. I will either go HD-SDI from the Kona card to the deck or go Ethernet from the computer to the deck.

What should my project and timeline settings be in Final Cut?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

    Scott

    Scott,

Your timeline settings should match your footage. So, in this case you’d be editing DVCProHD 1080 24P. The only issue being whether that’s true 24P or one of the other flavors such as 24pA. Just drop a clip on the timeline and allow FCP to set the timeline settings to match when it asks.

When it’s time to output you’ll need to set the Kona 3 and the deck properly, and that’s a question best posed over at the Kona forum where lots of people use that deck.
