Question….. Is there a way to automatically place a new 3D layer in the forefront of the camera? i.e. If I have a layer and I adjusted the camera to have the loayer fly off the screen. Then I place another layer on the screen, but I want it to be in the forefront as if I just applied the 3d layer and the text/image is flat on the screen. I guess it would have to automatically adjust the position of the layer instead of me having to adjust it manually, etc.

    thx!

To have a layer exactly in front of the camera do this:

    • make it a 3d-layer
    • make it a child of the camera
    • copy the Zoom-factor of the camera (double-click the camera to get it)
    • set the layer at position (0, 0, zoomfactor)
    • set all the layers rotation and orientation properties to 0
    • [ break the parent-child link between camera and layer ]

this assuming the layer is the same size as the comp, has a scale of 100% and has it’s anchorPoint still at (50%,50%)

That doesn’t work with 3D layers, sadly.
