While capturing analog video through my Canon XHA1 camera using “capture now,” when I come to the end of the clip I cannot stop the capture. I will hit the escape button numerous times, hold it down for long periods of time, stop the analog playback, remove the videotape, shut off the analog machine and even turn the camera off, but nothing stops the capture. When I finally resort to forced closure of Final Cut it renders the file I have been making unusable. Is there another way to stop a capture other than “escape?”

This is a great argument for using “log and capture”.

When ingesting HDV, the system can become rather unresponsive. If you log your clips ahead of time (even if its the full tape), then FCP decides when to stop.

Its a better way to work.
