Hi, i’m working on an educational DVD project and having some problems…

I recorded a talk at a conference and i want to create a DVD that shows the powerpoint slide at the bottom left of the screen and the footage of the speaker at the top left.
The slide is double the size of the video (i used the ‘save as’ feature in Powerpoint to create separate jpgs of the presentation).
I have timed it so the slide changes when appropriate.

I thought it was all going well but when i exported from FCP to DVD studio Pro (via compressor) and built the DVD, the quality is very disappointing. The video footage is pixelated and rough, the slides are blurred and difficult to read.
I used high bit rates when compressing and tried various settings but to no avail.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Make sure your sequnece in FCP is set to something other than DV – Like 8 Bit

Also… try to set Motion Filtering to best in sequence settings

Then use the Export with Compressor command so it analyses each frame

thanks for the suggestion – I will try it out.

Perhaps you could advise what other settings are best in the sequence settings?
I shot in hdv 1080i50 but I have to output on sd DVD. When selecting frame size, pixel aspect ratio and compressor codec Should I base settings on what it was shot in (keeping it native) or what it will be eventually output in?
    Hope that makes sense.
