  • Sending clips to Color (and Motion) and back to FCP

    Hi,

I have a little issue with the round trip from FCP to Color (or Motion) and then back to FCP.

To explain: 2 clips edited up with simple transitions. The clips are 30 seconds long but have in and outs cutting them down to 15 seconds long. When I send them to Color and back I always end up with just what was between the in and outs. This itself is not a problem but I am having problems adding transitions to them when they come back to FCP as the clips have no heads or tails. Well i think that is the problem – all i am certain is that after i worked on a clip in color/ motion and send it back to FCP i can’t add transitions as would before i sent it out and i know for sure the clip has been shortened to just the in and out length.

I am obviously not experienced in FCP and any help would be welcomed!

    Hi Brendan,

I know Color has issues with most transitions added in FCP. Send your clips clean into Color and then add the transitions afterwards, back in FCP. Try that.
