I am trying to find the definitive answer on how to bring PSD files into a 1080i 29.97 DVC Pro HD timeline. With DV it was bloody easy. Create a 720 x 576 image, resize it to 720 x 480 (or something close, it’s been years since I’ve dealt with DV) and Bob’s your Uncle.

No matter what size of a PSD file I create, when I copy the layers from the PSD comp and paste them into an HD timeline, they go totally nuts.

If I drop the PSD sequence file in the TL (PSD file size 1440 x 1080) it seems to fit just fine.

Why can’t I copy individual layers from PSD sequence and have them keep the same aspect ratio? Is this a bug???

The thing that really gets me is when I’m trying to make motion menus and I need the PSD file to be exactly the same in FCP as is in DVD SP and for the life of me I cannot get the same fil to look the same in both programs and I have yet to find a logical explanation of why this is so bloody confusing.

What version of PS? Be sure to also pick up Photoshop for Video book from Cow Store

    I’d build using square pixels
