I really hope I can get some advice here. With the tutorial Andrew Kramer has provided in his Basic Training 3D integration video, I am trying to create an intro to a weekly show for a local business magazine. What I want to do is have a few videos in 3D space put together but have them be smaller in size and show depth between them. I want to try and create a reflection (like Andrew Kramer has provided in another tutorial) underneath all of these videos in one composition. And with a camera in 3D space I’m going to have the camera zoom to the different videos playing at once. I also want to add text going along with all of this.

Sorry if this is a little wordy and sounds a bit confusing. I’ll admit, I’m a newbie to all of this and I’m probably not using the right terminology. I hope someone can understand the idea I have here. Bear with me as I’m at the bottom of the ladder and working my way up in Film/Video Effects!! I appreciate the time and patience.

I provided a print screen shot of Andrew Kramer’s tutorial so that it makes a little more sense.

    Thanks again,
    Matt

Yes I have watched the tutorial. I’m just wondering how I could incorporate the text into it and keep it flowing smoothly.

ok, depending on where you want your text will depend mainly on what type effect you want to use. if you are wanting to create text that animates but the camera zooms past it as it animates, simply create your animation on the text, and convert the layer to a 3d object so that the layer will be affected by the camera the same way your video layers will be, then its merely a case of positioning the layer.

if you are wanting the camera to animate around the text within the 3d space, away to do this is to create a null object roughly at the centre of your text layer, parent your camera to this layer, create your start position and end position of where you want your camera to begin moving from and end movement at, this causes the camera to rotate around the point where you placed your null object at.

i apologise if ive ranted on about something that is not quite what you are after but they are a few way, not too detailed, of some ways to do this. i learned a lot of my stuff for my projects at university from andrew kramers sit videocopilot.net which is a good place to get started, as you probably know, so what you may be best doing is combining his tutorials on reflections, advanced camera techniques and also for the reflections, look at the preset section of the site for a quick solution to the reflections query.

hope i helped in some way,

    jack
