Hi – I am yet to import a Quicktime clip into Final Cut Pro. Footage is being sent to me by someone and I need to tell them what sort of format I need it in. I doubt the original footage (eg on TAPE) will be available so I’m considering asking for the footage in Quicktime format.

The footage would be previously edited, and will include voice, and other audio, and music.

If I ask for it in Quicktime format, will all the audio appear as ONE track on the timeline, when I import the Quicktime clip it into Final Cut Pro?

If that’s the case I will not be able to ‘re-edit’ it, will I? – eg take out whatever music they used and replace it with my own, or take out other audio? Will all the audio be condensed as ONE audio track?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

I have gotten QT video with six individual audio tracks so I know it is possible. They would have to set it up correctly on their end before they make the copy for you.
