Buying a Mac for Final Cut, need help
I’ve never owned a Mac before, but I need one for film school. I’m looking for what you the minimum specs you all would require to run Final Cut Pro 5.1 or higher, but to still run it well. I know what the actual minimum requirements are to install it, but I’m looking for the best way to run this program efficiently, and to save some money too. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of a school that requires you to have your own editing machine, they will most likely have a computer lab you can use.
Because you are in school I am guessing that you will want a laptop. If that is the case then get a MacBook Pro. It will have designated video ram where a MacBook shares its video ram with the system ram. The MacBook Pro will also have a express slot that you can get a esata card for and then use esata hard drives.
The base model MacBook Pro is fine, but you will want to up the ram to 4GB
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
