  • Edit to Tape Question (Error-Tape Write Protected)

This may be a stupid question, but I am trying to black and code a tape to output a video to digibeta in FCP. I have done this many times and don’t know why I am getting this error. I am outputting to a digibeta tape from FCP through the KONA 3 to a Sony DVW-M2000. Everytime I try to just black and code the tape FCP tells me that the tape is write-protected. I thought maybe it was the tape I was using but have tried several other brand new tapes and am still getting this error. Can someone explain why I am getting this error? The sequence settings match the output settings, so what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks! 🙂

You could have the record inhibit switch on the deck enabled.

You could have the record inhibit tab up on the tape.

    This is a start.

Thanks. The record inhibit switch was turned on for some reason on the deck. I feel like a ding-dong now. ^_^

I have no idea how it happened but now it’s working fine. I never mess with the settings on the deck but someone must have done it!

    Thanks again!
