Recently, when I attempt to export a project the time required to export it, which used to be a little under two minutes, climbs exponentially. After about ten or fifteen minutes it suddenly drops back and down and quickly finishes exporting. I haven’t changed anything in the project or any of my FCP settings. Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be causing it?

Do you have unrendered video in your timeline? When you export a sequence that has sections of unrendered video, it has to render those sections while writing to the QuickTime file. That’s likely why it slows down occasionally.

Not really a fix for that, besides rendering before you export, but the overall time required is equivalent.

Is that the case? If not, then it might be media that’s on a slow hard drive.
