• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  “Codec not found” – FINAL CUT PRO 5.1.4

  Hello. When I try to open a new sequence in FINAL CUT PRO 5.1.4, I get the following message:

  “Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”

  I am running a 2.2ghz MacBook Pro with 2GB memory and GeForce 8600MGT. Dose anyone have any ideas what the message means?

  You are attempting to import a movie that does not have the supported codec installed in your Quicktime folder.

  If it is coming from AVID then you need to install the avid codecs.

  My guess it that you are trying to import an AVI movie.

  You will need something like sorensen squeeze to convert it into a format that FCP can recognize.
