  • Newbie question regarding copy/moving files

Posted by Gary Carbo on December 8, 2007 at 5:55 am

My film project is currently stored on 5 external drives. Takes up about 700 gigs. I tried to “COPY” the project onto a 1 tb drive, however practically nothing was copied (just red slashes trough each clip) I was going to try it again, however this time I was going to select “MOVE” rather than “COPY.” I’m so afraid that I may lose my movie. How do I move without losing my data? Thank you in advance.

Don’t do it manually, open the project and then use media manager to make a copy of the project on the new drive.

With media manager you can move everything that FCP is using for that project to one new location, this way you don’t miss anything.
