FCP 5 and working with DVCPRO50 files
I’m brand new to the forums so forgive me if this has been covered. I tried searching for an answer but haven’t found one yet. I’m an assistant video editor in training so my knowledge base is kinda thin. I have a client who needs some footage re-edited for an online project. Something must have happened with the previous editor because they said they wont contact him any more.
I just have the raw footage to work with. After some snooping around I’ve discovered it’s DVCPRO50 23.98p. This imports fine in FCP5 but when I try to put it in the timeline it has the red un-rendered bar. How can I set FCP up to run this footage without having to render. I looked under the easy setup but there’s no option for DVCPRO50. I’ve haven’t worked with this format yet and don’t know anything about it.

Click the Show All under Easy Setups… it most certainly supports DVCPRO 50

Create a sequence setting that matches the parameters of your source footage BEFORE you place your footage in the sequence.
You should be good to go.

Thanx for the responses. I figured this out about 20 min after I posted this. But that’s the way it goes with these things. I’m still not seeing DVCPRO50 under easy setup. I have the “more options” box checked. There’s DVCPRO HD but not DVCPRO50. I just went into sequence pre-sets and made one that fit my needs. Oh well it all worked out. Thanx again for the suggestions.
