Setting up a New FCP Suite…
Hey All…
Just about to jump back in the game and buy a new suite. I am wondering what the best direction to go in is. I am going to be editing a doc shot on HD. But I am unsure of what equipement I need to make this run smoothly. I am hoping someone might toss out an idea or two for me. Beyond computer and internal specs.. I am cool but monitors and break out boxes and if I should build a raid system, deck to buy… etc… Any help would be much appreciated…

Perhaps you can specify exactly what format you’re working in. HD covers a huge range of products and formats and each ahs its own demands and requirements.

I think this is what tome means. If ou are working in HDV then you canget away with Firewire. If you need to go out to HD Cam, then you will require much faster drives, etc.
Working in any setup, you might need to add a capture card, which will allow you to view your images on an external monitor. This can range from a small HD plasma TV to a igh end monitoroing solution for Color Grading, etc.
Without the specifics of what you are actually doing. It is hard to offer help or advice.
