August 14, 2006 at 11:22 pmI used the JVC HD100 to shoot the wedding. In the menu of the camera i chose the video format as followed:
Frame rate: 60/30
Rec: HDV-SD60P
Aspect: [16:9]
HDV PB Output: 720PI thought I’d set the Rec: at HDV-HD30P but it turned out i didn’t. Now FCP won’t let me capture the footage. I can see the timecode field progressing but not the video, when i tried to capture the tapes.
I tried capturing via 8bit composite, and it works, but that’s the last case scenerio, i’d like to capture the higher quality footage. I appreciate your helping me.

August 15, 2006 at 2:18 amFirst make sure the camera is set to output HDV and not standard definition DV. I does not work with this camera. If you’re changing around settings a lot you may have changed to some weirdo setting that doesn’t exist, so trash your FCP preferences to reset the application.
From the presets that come up when you launch the application select HDV 720p30.
After the app opens go to the A/V settings and confirm that you have those set for capture and sequence settings. Set the device control to HDV FireWire.
Open the log and capture window. Set the reel number and name of the clip. Mark an In point at least five seconds into the tape. Mark an Out point a short distance later in the tape. Press the clip button. Does it capture? If not What exactly happens at each step of the way.
All the best,
Tom
