  • How to animate a 2D stroke/line bending?

Looking to simply take a stroke/line, and bend it up and down. Think like a jump rope, or something like that…

I’m sure there’s a way to easily do this with included AE effects, right? I’ve messed with the bend effect applied to an image of a 2px line, but it seems to be a bit rough. Then again, may just be me…

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

you could make a curved path with the pen tool (or copy and paste a vector from an application like illustrator), then apply the stroke effect. stroke gives you control over color, thickness and hardness, along with start and end points.

it should draw a nice smooth line.

Wow, I can’t believe I’m struggling with something so simple…

I can’t get a stroke to appear on the paths I’ve imported from Illustrator, or drawn in AE itself… What am I doing wrong here?

EDIT: Ok, nevermind, got it. Thank you!
