hi. i don’t understand why this is happening; it’s very sudden. i’ve tried importing now with a different camera . . . doesn’t work. i’ve tried changing it to a “non-controllable device” . . . doesn’t work. the tape plays just fine when i watch it on the screen of my camera; there doesn’t even seem to be any glitches in the image . . . oh, and the audio gets imported just fine.

this is really killing me; i’m in art school and all of my projects are due next week. please tell me it’s going to be just fine, and why.

    i use fcp5, a G5 dual 2ghz, and a canon optura 60.

Some more info regarding your system details would aid greatly in trying to diagnose your problem. Are you trying to capture your footage to your system hard drive or do you have a dedicated media drive for this? If so, what type of media drive is it and how is it connected to your Mac? How full is the hard drive you’re trying to capture to? Your Canon Optura should be fine for using as a capture deck with FCP. How is your Optura connected to your Mac? Using the firewire 400 connection?
