Hi, another newbie
Hi, how do you do a split screen in fcp5. As seen most recently in Sideways. I know its ol’ school, but I’m going for that “look.”

NEWBIES WELCOME!
We all were newbies at one point.
Simple. Drop one clip on V1, the other on V2. Double click on them to reload them into the viewer, click on the MOTION tab and start playing with the SCALE and CROP and CENTER functions. Do this with both to arrange them where you want.
Again…once they are in the timeline, double click on them to get them into the Viewer before you start adusting anything.

As a quick tip – If you happen to have anything in nest sequences, double-clicking it in the timeline will open up the sequence in the timeline. I find it good practice to select a clip in the timeline and then hit enter to reload into the viewer. This will work for clips or nests. Saves ME frustration at least!!

Option double clicking on a nest in the time line will also load it into the viewer. All depends on where your fingers are and what your habits are I guess.
