    Basically:

    SD is Beta, Digibeta, MII…small variety of other formats. Both analogue and digital. In the NTSC world it is 720×486, 4:2:2 colorspace

    DV is a compressed digital format. Compressed 5:1, 720×480 with a color space of 4:1:1.

    SD is “Standard Def”. People often mean it to mean uncompressed standard def video. If it isn’t high def, it’s SD. SD comes in many falavours, all compressed to some extent though.
