blurry title cards
I’ve been having a problem where my title cards look sharp when the video is paused, but blurry when i press play. I think I’m missing some fundamental step. I try to render them, but nothing happens. They have a green bar over them. any help would be great!

A green bar means that they are not rendered. you can force render them by making sure that green bar renders are set in FCP Sequence>RENDER menu.
Then activating that render by selecting the title and pressing Apple key+R or option key=+R
After the render they should look great.

1. You have a render all function to make sure that everything gets rendered.
2. Graphics and DV aren’t a good combination. If you’re going to DVD, you could consider separate sequences for graphics in some uncompressed mode and export them separately to DVDSP for final assemble in DVDSP.

You also need to set up a video monitor to your deck or cam as you work to check the TRUE quality of your rendered graphics. The Canvas is very misleading.
This is a very common problem for people that don’t work with FCP properly setup with a video monitor and speakers being fed from the dv deck or camcorder. Set it up properly and you’ll have much fewer confusions.
