• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  My project is stuck in my computer!!! :(

  Hi. I am fairly new to Final Cut. I have just finished a project for class and need to put it back to tape. So, I have gone to “print to video” and done everything I am suppose to but it still wont print to my tape. I have a Sony PD170 that is connected by firewire to my G5. The Sony is on the VCR setting, like it should be. I press ok, for print to video and the video pops up on my computer screen and my camera starts recording, so you would think it would work. But my camera is recording nothing. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I’ve tried setting in and out points. I need this by tomorrow on either tape or dvd. Does anyone have any ideas? My project is stuck in the computer. 🙁

  I’ve never found print to tape to be the easiest thing myself. Have you dragged the project sequence to the edit to tape window?

  What about just playing the movie from the timeline, out to the camera and hitting record? If you need to top and tail the video, you can do that by nesting the sequence.

  Doran,

  When using print to video you need to hit play and record on the camera yourself. What you should do is open teh sequence you want.

  Activate the print to video

  When it tells you to hit play record on the PD170,
  you should do that in the Camera’s VTR menu

  You will see a red record light on the LCD of the PD170

  Click OK in FCP to start the program recording.

  Check your tape.
