  Filmflash Transition in Final Cut Pro 7

  Hi all!

  I’m trying to do a filmflash transition in Final Cut Pro 7. What I’d like to do is something similar to this:

  Playing with the Gaussian Blur Filter and with Levels doesn’t seem to do the trick, I’m not getting that cool red tone that you can see in the tutorial.

  Does anybody know what filters should I apply?

  I have a flash transition which looks the same from Luca’s plugins, (free), I had a quick look on the web but I can’t see it in the current lineup. However, if you do a search you might find it.

  Thanks a lot Roger! Unfortunately I need it in a place where I can’t install external plugins, but I will use it at home. Does anyone knows a way to do it with the built in presets?

  Set up dissolves into and out of a slug of white, or reddish-white, in your case. The added flavor comes from keyframing some changes to black and white levels of the clips in the 3-way color corrector, and from changing the blending mode (what Apple calls Modify>Composite Mode)
