  • FCP 7 Died And I’m Having Re-Install Issues

Posted by Alan Nordoc on December 8, 2014 at 9:12 pm

My FCP 7 started crashing all projects last night so after trying everything I decided to re-install. I upgraded to Yosemite so the installer would work (it didn’t on previous recent versions of the OS) and everything worked great up to the installation of Pro Applications Update 2010-2012. This seems to install fine but it doesn’t actually update FCP to 7.0.3. I just leaves it as FCP 6. Any suggestions about how to get the update to work? My projects are all 7.0.3.

    Thanks.

My understanding is that the installer was written to only work in OS versions below Yosemite.

[Alan Nordoc] “the installation of Pro Applications Update 2010-2012.”

That updates a fresh FCP 7 install. You said…

Did you really install FCP 6? Or is this a typo? The ProApps update you mention only updates FCP 7 to 7.0.3. It won’t touch FCP 6.

It also won’t update FCP 7 if you already have FCX installed, and in the applications folder.
