I speak FCP7 as a new second language, Avid Media Composer my first. I need to get at a backup project file. On opening, I get asked for name and serial number. Serial Number is good. (I’ve tried three different correct and active serial numbers). I get a message that says the serial number is invalid, then the big crash screen. It says Final Cut Express HD has crashed. I don’t have Final Cut Express HD on this computer. This doesn’t effect the copy of FCP7 I have open. I notice the backup files are all labeled Final Cut Express files. What’s up? Can anyone help?

Is your FCP 7 a legal copy and if yes, which version is it?
Did you try trashing FCP’s Preference and PLIST Files and start again?
Otherwise de-install and re-install Software again.
