I am putting together surveillence videos and I need to place an oval or highlighted shape over the object being viewed. I see this in many videos, but cannot figure out how to do it in FCP 7.
The circle under shapes is solid color only. I can lower the opacity, but when I put motion to it the black shaded area around the shape moves with it.
I have tried creating a circle in photoshop and putting it on my clip, but had no luck.

Change the blending mode of the shape, MODIFY>COMPOSITE MODE, then adjust opacity.

Thank you. That will work. I also found out I can use slug with a mask shape filter.
