  Any way to maximise XDCAM export quality?

  I’m having some disappointing results exporting to XDCAM HD422 1080i50 CBR from either FCP7 or QT Pro. The disappointment relates specifically to some motion graphics that use a animated blue gradient background. The gradient looks beautiful on the uncompressed originals, but it’s pixellating noticeably on the XDCAM export. If I export from Motion 5, there’s less pixellation, but noticeable banding.

  I know that XDCAM HD422 is capable of handling the material much better, because when the same clips are exported from our Quantel eQ to the same codec, there’s virtually no pixellation or banding, just a small amount of noise that you can only see if you’re really looking for it.

  Are there any hidden export quality switches? The one on FCP’s custom export properties sheet is set to 100%. I notice that when I try to export from QT Pro, it says “Quality: Medium”, but there’s no quality setting anywhere that I can find.
