  Corrupted transitions

  Hi,

  I’m editing the following sequence

  1920×1080
  Compressor H.264

  and when I export it as QT movie using

  Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920×1080 30p 48kHz

  the video looks good but all the transitions (mainly cross) look corrupted. For example in some I can see a flash, in others strange skipping frames.

  Any ideas why?

  If you edited with H.264 media in FCP, that is probably the reason. H.264 is not an edit format in FCP. You should convert to ProRes before the edit. Try that with one or two clips and see how the transitions look.

  BTW, best way to convert from H264 to ProRes?

  I usually use Compressor, but MPEG Streamclip also gives good results. I have Sorenson Squeeze 9, but have never tried it for this. I suspect it’d do a good job, too.
