  • Will FCP 7 finally stop working – Mavericks

    Anyone running FCP 7 on the new Mavericks OSX 10.9?
    Will 10.9 be the OS that finally causes FCP 7 to stop working? Is it possible to install FCP 7 on a new Mavericks-installed Mac?

    Quick answer, for me on my 2009 Macbook Pro, so far so good. Posted a more lengthy summary just above yours.
    Good luck.

    Working for me so far… as expected. No problems to note.

    What about the rest of the suite: DVDSP, Compressor, Motion?

    Just opened STP, Compressor 4, DVDSP and Color. All opened although I didn’t actually open any saved projects other than STP they all looked as though they would work fine.

    Hi Steve,

    Am in the same situation.. and my Expresscard is out of action. Could you possibly let me know where you got that driver? Can’t seem to find that exact one.

    Thanks!

    Mike

    I got the driver here Mike;

    https://www.siliconimage/support

    from the product support drop down select

    Sil3132………..

    then after 1.7.5 and 1.2.5 failed I went for 1.2.3

    Good luck

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks so much for the speedy reply. Much much appreciated. I’ve installed the driver and, although I now have the card icon at the top right of my finder window and it says Silicon Image and Sil3132 etc when I click on it – they are greyed out. Did you uninstall or delete the previous Extension files etc before you installed the old driver? I’m worried I’ve messed around so much with drivers your solution won’t work for me..?

    Any ideas would be great. I am losing so much time here!

    Hi Michael,

    I have a Lacie 2TB Drive and a Lacie SATA II ExpressCard 34. Not sure which driver I had before Maverick, which ever it was survived the update from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

    I checked out my drivers folder and in ;
    System/Library/Extensions there are 2 files;
    SiliconImage3132.kext
    &
    SiliconImage3132r5.kext

    I also found the ‘Incompatible Software’ folder and in that was one of the files from above;
    SiliconImage3132.kext

    I didn’t uninstall the previous drivers, and my exact process was to download and install;
    sil3132…….1.7.5
    sil3132…….1.2.5

    then finally
    sil3132…..1.2.3

    then everything worked for me.

    Hope that helps
