new Panasonic camera /FCP 7.0.3 will not convert
I have a new panasonic AGAC90 camcorder.
I have a IMAC intel core i7.
I have FCP 7.0.3 on this mac, all work was with mini dv tapes.
This version of FCP will not convert the file from this camcorder(AGAC 90).
any assistance on proper setting up FCP to ways of converting file so I can work with them. -

Are you using LOG AND TRANSFER? Back up the full card and choose the root level of that backup? The proper workflow is here:

When I log and transfer to FCP, files or clips show up on screen but in media duration column it shows not time and when I drag clip down I get a “No Data” tag in clip.
This is the same whether I use card files or backup files on mac.

Well, AVCHD is a very odd format as each camera maker does it’s own “spin” on it. They all make slightly different versions of AVCHD…there is no “standard.” Because of that, and because it’s a new camera, and because the last update FCP 7 saw was over 3 years ago…it might not be able to handle it on it’s own.
Your best bet is to get ClipWrap2 from Divergentmedia.com. It is constantly updated to work with all formats of AVCHD, and convert them to ProRes, or DNxHD or whatever your NLE works with. ProRes for FCP…
